Abstract Vietnam has an age-old history of education, and Vietnamese people have high respect for learning. However, early childhood education (ECE) in been the main concern only since 1945. This paper describes process establishment development ECE Vietnam. Before during French colonial period Vietnam, was not considered a social task, therefore, there no formal educational system curriculum preschool children at this time. After 1945, with great transformation history, changed dramatically so that from 1945 to 1975 it political, separation. The historical events affect Consequently, is separated into two phases, before after 1975. Through ups downs successfully built system. Over seven decades development, made remarkable changes. change comes expansion number institutions, but also pedagogy are as most important Gradually escaping influence teacher-centered pedagogy, aiming build child-centered thereby helping learners reach their full potential.
